If there is a pattern or trend which seems to contradict the theory, possible sources of error should be discussed. For the purposes of a Formal Lab Report, errors are defined as unavoidable differences between the ideal situation described in the theory section and the actual conditions which existed in the laboratory. If a particular source of error is surmised, the probable impact of that error should be explained using direct references to individual values from the results section.
Remember that conducting the experiment incorrectly is
not an "error." If you come to believe that the experiment was not
done properly, you must repeat the procedure.
